New School Update – March 19, 2026

Southeast Cornerstone School Division No. 209 has been informed that the New School Project for Carlyle has been put on pause by the Provincial Saskatchewan Government.

With construction costs going up, the provincial government will be sequencing projects entering construction in a strategic way that allows projects to be completed based on those increased cost.  Some projects will be paused for the 2026-27 budget year to allow that sequencing.  Carlyle is one of those builds that has been paused.

The government has shared that this is not a result of project priority and Carlyle remains approved and will continue through the completion of the design stage.

We will share more details as they are available.

Dated this 19th day of March 2026

The Southeast Cornerstone School Division and Number 10 Architectural Group held a presentation for SECPSD School administration, Carlyle Town Council, RM of Moose Mountain #63 Council, School Community Councils from Gordon F. Kells and Carlyle Elementary School and the Carlyle Community Complex Foundation group to have a first glance and the mock-ups for the new school.

The renderings were on display at both the elementary and the high school during parent teacher interviews for public viewing as well as at the Carlyle Town Office; the drawings are currently at the Town Office if you wish to stop by and view - we do not have permission to display them on our website at this time.

December 2024

We received cost estimates from the Southeast Cornerstone School Division and the Architects for the enhancements to be covered by the Town of Carlyle and the community.  Council submitted a letter of commitment to cover the cost of these enhancements – see the letter here.

What are our extra dollars covering?  See the letter from Number 10 Architectural Group with the details here and a blue print here.

March 2023

In the 2023 Government of Saskatchewan Provincial Budget Address on March 22, 2023 the Minister of Finance announced funding allocated to the preliminary planning of a new Pre K – Grade 12 school in Carlyle that will replace the two existing schools.

Town Council members had the opportunity to attend the Legislative Building as guests of MLA Daryl Harrison and have a seat on the floor  to hear the Budget Address live.

These are truly exciting times for our Council and our community.  We look forward to working with the Southeast Cornerstone School Division to start planning for this project.
